What is GDPR in simple terms?

GDPR Stands For General Data Protection Regulation, as the name suggests, GDPR is a framework of guidelines that protect the data.

There is no denying to the fact that our personal information and data is vulnerable more than ever as we live in an era that is technologically driven. In order to prevent the information from getting into wrong hands and from further being misused, certain laws and regulations have come into force.

GDPR helps in safeguarding the personal data of the people of the European Union by preventing any of it from getting breached or misused.

GDPR, which came into effect on May 25th, 2018, brought along with itself a lot many changes that completely regulate the data protection policies.

GDPR not just helps in coordinating the existing policies but also aims to enhance the level of information protection by bringing into force other guidelines.

GDPR comes as a boon for customers as it brings along transparency, increases layers of protection and makes the digital platform a safe haven for the customers as their personal information is exposed on the digital platform.

Living in such an era which works on exposing the personal information every now and then, makes GDPR all the more relevant where it governs the laws related to the protection of data. GDPR has to become a part and parcel of our day-to-day life and should be treated with utmost seriousness since the digitalization of data has become an integral part of our lives.

GDPR applies to all the websites regardless of where they are based. All the European Union residents who use various websites are benefitted from this compliance.

Therefore, it becomes imperative for all the websites, which deal with the disclosure of data that they comply with the privacy and confidentiality norms of the same.

The GDPR maintains that all the people of European Union who use the website should be acquainted with the norms and regulations frequently.

Also the sites should take proper steps in order to catalyze the notifications related to the data disclosure breach. Adopted in April 2016, the Regulation came into full effect in May 2018, after a two-year transition period.
